Driving Schools Guide

Learning to drive can be a daunting prospect for those who have just passed their Learners test. Driving is not a simple task, and is more challenging than the scenarios placed in a computer test.

Some people get taught how to drive by having their parents as a guide in the car. Driving around and getting to know the road is extremely important and both the driver and passenger need to feel comfortable. This arrangement can work if the parent is relaxed and confident in the learners driving, if they are not, it could be bad for all involved.

Driving schools provide you with the confidence you need, to learn how to drive safely on the roads. Instructors are better than your parents as you usually don’t know the person and they can tell you the rules and what you are doing wrong. They are good for a learner driver too, as they wont make the driver nervous or feel stressed behind the wheel.

Going to driving school and having lessons with qualified instructors will allow you to become confident in your driving abilities and passing your Probationary test. The school allows you to get behind the wheel and do the driving yourself.  Each school will all aim to tech you the same thing, and that is being safe on the roads. But they are categorised into different types so you can choose which school best suits you.

There are different types of driving schools such as defensive driving, advanced driving, truck driving and even motorcycle schools that run in all states across Australia.

Driving schools take you out on the roads in lessons that usually last around 45 minutes. Most schools provide you with a vehicle to drive and will charge at an hourly rate. You should check the differing price ranges per school to work out what is best for you. Some schools specialise in manual or automatic lessons and some do both, so depending on which you want to learn you should check with the school beforehand.
